Prague Castle, located in the heart of Prague, Czech Republic, is one of the most prominent landmarks in the country. With a history that dates back to the 9th century, it is one of the largest ancient castles in the world and has played a significant role in the country's history.

The castle complex consists of several buildings and courtyards, including St. Vitus Cathedral, the Royal Palace, the Golden Lane, and the Old Royal Palace, among others. The complex covers an area of over 70,000 square meters, making it one of the largest castle complexes in the world.

St. Vitus Cathedral is the most prominent building within the castle complex. This Gothic cathedral, built over a period of six centuries, is a masterpiece of medieval architecture. The cathedral houses the tombs of many Czech kings and Holy Roman Emperors, including Charles IV, who was responsible for the cathedral's construction.

The Royal Palace, another significant building within the castle complex, was the seat of the Bohemian kings and later the Habsburgs. The palace contains several rooms, including the Vladislav Hall, which is the largest hall in the castle and was used for royal banquets and coronations.

The Golden Lane, a picturesque street of small houses, was originally built in the 16th century for the castle guards. Later, it became the home of goldsmiths, and Franz Kafka lived in one of the houses from 1916 to 1917. Today, the houses are used as souvenir shops and exhibitions.

The Old Royal Palace, dating back to the 12th century, was the original seat of the Bohemian kings. It is now used for official state functions, including the inauguration of the Czech president.

One of the best ways to explore the Prague Castle complex is to take a guided tour. The tour will take you through the various buildings and courtyards, and you will learn about the castle's history and the people who lived there.

In addition to its historical significance, Prague Castle is also an architectural marvel. The various buildings within the complex feature a range of architectural styles, from Gothic to Baroque to Renaissance.

The castle complex is also home to several museums, including the Prague Castle Picture Gallery, which features a collection of Baroque art, and the Toy Museum, which has a collection of toys from the 18th to the 20th century.
